Butterfly Park


    India is one of the 17-mega bio diverse countries of the world. Due to extremely diverse terrain, climate and sharply marked seasons. India has a wide range of flora and fauna, with a very high rate of endemism. India hosts about 1800 species and subspecies of butterfly and moths. About 15-20% of these are endemic to the indian region, which makes this an especially important region for butterfly diversity and conservation. Butterflies with beautiful and attractive colours, play a pivotal role in the ecosystem. In order to generate awareness among the tourists, general public and students, towards importance of these flying jewels, the U.T. Administration has established a butterfly park at Khanvel. The Park was opened for public on 11 june 2013 by gracious hands of administrator and Member of parliament.
